Day 1

We’ve finally started.

Today’s rally began by getting off the beach road and climbing high into the mountains.

There were four Regularity Sections.   We did OK (not great) for our first time out in almost three years.   We were too fast on all four Regularities…..13, 7, 3 and 13 seconds respectively.  The organizers haven’t posted the Offical Results, but I’m assuming it will place us in the middle of the pack in our Class.   I’ll let you know tomorrow how we placed.

The morning drive was under a bright sun, but as noon approached we got rain.   Roads became slippery, but our new set of tires held the road well.

The forecast for the next couple of days is rain with possible snow when we reach Cortina….we’ll see.

Tomorrow we have several Speed Tests so I’m hoping for dry pavement.

Our day ended at the Alberto Dell’Agenzia.   I believe it started life as a magnificent manor house in this area of Italy known for growing the famous Barolo wine.   The hillsides are manicured like the best vineyards in France or Napa Valley.   When we arrived they had arranged a wine testing for us so we could get the “flavor “ of the neighborhood.

We’re off tomorrow for Lake Como so it will be an early night.
