Day 6 - Cortina to Verona

Finally a little warmth. As we came out of the Dolomites down to flat land the sun made an appearance , intermittently. Even intermittently was a relief from the cold of the mountains.
We did three Regularities and did all three poorly. Our poor scoring lead us to talk to Jo and Dave Roberts. Both are experienced rally participants who I’ve written about in other blogs. I think Jo is the best navigator in the fleet. Their solution for us was two-fold: (1) a slight recalibration of our equipment, and (2) an instruction to Brant that he must not “cut the corner” on switchbacks, but rather stay in his lane and go the long way around a corner. Of course this instruction is just the opposite given a track racer who is seeking the shortest way around any corner/curve.

We will see how this new plan will change the results tomorrow.

Tonight we’re in Verona, a beautiful ancient city and home to the Romeo and Juliette balcony, made famous in Shakespeare’s famed play of the same name. A bit “touristy,” but a reminder of the society that used to be in this part of the world.
